Before joining Union, Ian spent nine years working as the Director of the Langham Partnership UK Scholars Ministry, which supports the training of lecturers in evangelical theological seminaries in the Majority World. He is also Honorary Fellow in the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh. Before that he served for twelve years as Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Lecturer in the History of Christianity at International Christian College, Glasgow. He is the author of six books in the fields of Church history and historical theology. His first ministry was eight years spent as Pastor of a church in Salford, Manchester. Ian is married to Christine, who is a Deputy-Head teacher in a school for children with Special Educational Needs. They have four grown children and one grandson.
Dr Joel Morris is Union’s Executive Director, overseeing the strategic and operational direction of the organisation. He is an active member of Grace Community Church, Porthcawl. He has been a missionary working in 28 countries with Operation Mobilisation before a doctorate and career in Materials Engineering which took him from Aerospace to the Nuclear sector. Prior to joining Union, he was Assistant Professor at the Seoul National University, in South Korea. He has extensive experience in bringing technology research to market, and in creating industrially sponsored University projects. He also started his own company specialising in aerospace technology. Joel is married to Hye Lim and they have three children. Joel and Hye Lim are Cooperative Missionaries of SaRang Church in Seoul.
Pastoral Dean and Lecturer in Pastoral Theology
Phil Hill is Union's Pastoral Dean in partnership with the Evangelical Movement of Wales, and Lecturer in Pastoral Theology. He has pastored churches in Wales, England, and Israel. He spent five years in Israel as Head of Ministerial Formation at Nazareth Evangelical Theological Seminary, Galilee.
Academic Dean and Senior Lecturer in New Testament
Cornelis (Cor) Bennema is the Academic Dean and Senior Lecturer in New Testament. Cor comes from the Netherlands where he worked as an IT professional before he moved to the UK for his theological studies. He then taught in India at SAIACS, a postgraduate theological seminary, for eleven years, and joined Union School of Theology in 2013.
