We are very pleased to announce Paul Spear as our incoming Pastoral Dean at Union School of Theology. Paul is presently General Secretary of the Association of Grace Baptist Churches South East and will join our faculty on campus in the summer.
Paul is a graduate of Union having completed a Diploma in Theology (1992) and, later, an MA in Pastoral Theology (2007) at what was then the Evangelical Theological College of Wales, Bryntirion. He is an ordained Grace Baptist minister and has served as an elder and pastor in three congregations over nearly twenty five years as well as having previous experience as a London City Mission evangelist and a school teacher. He is also the chair of the Affinity council. Paul is married to Fiona and they have three children.
Michael Reeves, Union’s President and Professor of Theology, writes,
‘I’m so pleased to welcome Paul to our faculty in this senior role. He has extensive pastoral experience, a proven leadership track record, and a clear desire to serve the church. He will bring all this to a vital role in the Union community as we raise up leaders, pastors, and church planters.’
Paul Spear said,
'What a joy to be returning to 'Bryntirion' which did so much to shape my own ministry. The values and vision of Union lay a firm foundation for the leaders of church and mission. With deep Biblical and theological roots they prepare for the hard work of ministry. Helping them to think pastorally, practically and purposefully is an amazing privilege.'
Paul will provide pastoral support for our students and mentors, whether on campus or in Learning Communities. He will also teach in the area of pastoralia and be programme leader for our Graduate Diploma course.
Union’s student community stretches from our campus in South Wales to Athens, Calgary, and Helsinki. Now our brand new flexible BA Theology programme is available, providing community-focussed theological education accessible whenever and wherever you need it. For more information, see here
