Clive Bowsher is a pastor-theologian with a passion for understanding and communicating the word of Christ. He leads and manages the School as Provost, and teaches and researches in NT and Biblical Theology. Previously, he served as lead minister of a local church in Oxfordshire, UK, and co-mentored Union’s Learning Community in Oxford. He brings extensive academic experience to the School, having held positions at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Bristol. His book, Life in the Son: Johannine Union, Oneness and Participation with Christ, is forthcoming in IVP’s New Studies in Biblical Theology series. He is married to Kerstin, and together they have a son, Alasdair.

Robert Letham
Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology

Robert Letham is Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology. He has pastored congregations in New Jersey and Wilmington, Delaware, the latter for over 17 years. He has taught theology at London School of Theology, Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia) and Reformed Theological Seminary (Washington DC/Baltimore). He is married to Joan and has three grown children.

Paul Spear

Paul Spear has over 30 years of experience as a pastor in three different churches. Before joining Union, Paul was co-pastor of Highbury Baptist Church and General Secretary of an Association of over 60 churches in the South-East of England (AGBCSE), leading a team supporting their pastoral care, church planting, governance and finance. We’re pleased he has now returned to the campus where he first trained for ministry. Paul has particular interests in the overlap between pastoral theology and theological education. He is married to Fiona and they have three grown-up children.

Steffen Jenkins
Lecturer in Greek and Biblical Studies

Before joining Union, Steffen was Tutor in Biblical Languages at Tyndale House, Cambridge, and a missionary to seminaries in Cuba. He has also served as associate Minister of a local church in Chelmsford. Steffen's twin passions are reading the Old Testament as Christian Scripture and equipping pastors in the biblical languages so they can use them daily. Current book projects include a Greek language textbook (forthcoming with CUP) and an introduction to reading the Psalms as a book. Steffen is married to Sally-Ann, and together they have two sons, Ben and Daniel.

John Evans

John spent seven years as a pastor in the USA and twenty years on seminary faculties in Africa. While a missionary, he served as Academic Dean at the Theological College of Central Africa in Zambia, and as Head of the Biblical Studies Department at Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology. Additionally, he has taught on the faculty of two American seminaries.

Gary McKee

Before joining Union, Gary served as Director of Studies at Westminster Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Newcastle Upon Tyne. He has also taught Theology and Biblical Studies at Leeds Trinity University and pastored a church in Sunderland from 2006-2013. Gary completed his undergraduate theological studies here on Campus in 2006. He is married to Priya and they have one daughter, Elyana.

Liz Trenckmann

Elizabeth Trenckmann is Tutor for Women & Student Welfare. She and her husband, Rob, spent the last 10 years as missionaries in Hungary, with Josiah Venture. Liz directed and helped found Josiah Venture’s national work in Hungary, providing oversight as part of the Executive Team and fostering both discipleship and leadership development. Liz supports our female students and liaises with students about the Union learning experience. She is married to Rob Trenckmann, Head of Operations at Newton House, and they have 3 kids, Caleb, Lilly, and Alec.

Sheila Stephen
Tutor for Wellbeing and Community

Sheila Stephen is Tutor for Wellbeing and Community. Sheila supports the spiritual and personal well-being of both staff and students at UST. Her academic background is in Biblical Studies, Social Theory & Institutions and Counselling. She is a professional counsellor, clinical supervisor and trainer. She has written materials for youth and children’s ministry for several years and has run training courses in a variety of settings. She has many years of experience in women’s ministry in local churches and at a national level, and has authored numerous articles on pastoral care and women’s and children’s issues. She has been an innovator and pioneer in the voluntary sector and is a Trustee of a number of charities.
