Union in Belfast

Serving Northern Ireland with affordable, flexible, accessible options for theological education.

Study the MTh locally through our Belfast Learning Community

Through our approved Learning Communities, Union aims to serve the Church by providing an affordable, flexible, accessible option for formal theological education. Our state-of-the-art online platform makes this possible as never before, and with excellent mentors and local tutors provides an enhanced way of learning in the context of the local church.

This Learning Community is hosted by Foundation Church Belfast.

The Lead Mentor is David Varney.

What can you study here?

In-person MTh – Belfast: students at this Learning Community study the MTh over 3 years - six pre-allocated taught modules over two years (3 intensive fortnights per year: September, January & March), with an additional year to submit their dissertation. It is up to students how they spread their remaining study time. Essays for each module are due 7 weeks after the essay title is given.

Students may substitute one module per year for an intensive campus-based module, attended in person at our South Wales Campus, or 3 weeks of Biblical Languages in person or via Zoom. Visit the MTh programme page for more details about programme content and MTh module rotations, Campus MTh schedule, and application deadlines.

This MTh group is on module rotation A – for details, click on the MTh LCs Module Rotations Schedule under the 'Programme Details and Contents' section of the MTh programme page.
