Flexible BA study where you need it
As part of our mission to grow leaders for Christ’s church, we want to make the best community-focussed theological education accessible whenever and wherever people need it. That’s why we’re introducing a new, flexible way to study on our BA programme for those unable to fully relocate to campus.
From September 2020 onwards we will be able to deliver the BA in a blended approach to serve those unable to relocate for study because of family responsibilities, existing ministry commitments or even a global pandemic! Through a blend of time on campus and supported online learning, students anywhere can now access our respected BA programme, full-time or part-time.
For example, if you are looking to study residentially but are unsure if that will be possible in September due to the Coronavirus, this mode of study might suit you! You can also start study via the online community at home and when it’s safe you can relocate to study the BA on campus. This learning mode brings this sort of flexibility.
Our purpose-built Zoom classrooms mean that those studying via this blended approach can interact in live lectures, seminars and workshops in the same way as those on campus. Learning alongside each other, they will have the same resources and support as well as benefitting from regular interaction with faculty. At UST we are committed to seeing leaders equipped theologically, but also formed personally and spiritually and so students accessing the BA through this blended approach will also benefit from the weekly pastoral and personal workshops that our community of students enjoy.
How will it work?
In each year of their study, students accessing the blended BA must complete at least one of their modules on campus, giving them the opportunity to strengthen links with students and faculty that they build when studying at a distance. That module will be delivered in two concentrated learning blocks during the year. But we think you’ll want to be on campus for as much as you can, because our campus is home for Union, and you’ll get a chance to be in a community with our great faculty and students. We are convinced that for study, community is really important. We want to build community wherever we are able. We also want remove obstacles from people wanting to study robust theology. Therefore students will now have the opportunity to benefit from this blend of residential and online learning. We think this new, flexible approach is a huge step forward in helping future leaders access the education they need.
